READ on the Wild Side with Mark Twain MTL will entertain 9-12 year olds with a program centered on Mark Twain on Wednesday, June 24th at 11 a.m. Warren Brown, an Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar, will present the program. Mr. Brown is a Mark Twain scholar and has received the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award for his portrayal of Samuel Clemens.

The program will center on Mark Twain's views on the History of Science. Mark Twain said, "Inventors are the creators of the world - after God." Those attending will journey on water, land and air with insights from the "Diaries of Adam and Eve" to friendships with inventors, and thoughts about Galileo and Newton.

Read on the Wild Side at MTL!

MTL is providing a reading program for children ages 3-12 years old on Wednesdays this summer. READ on the WILD SIDE is the title of the program and theme for the summer. Wednesdays are a new day for the summer reading program - mark your calendars for June 3rd to register. For more information click the link above.

MTL's summer reading program is looking for volunteers who will be Storytellers and room helpers. The program will be held on Wednesdays this year beginning June 17th and ending July 15th. If you are interested in helping, please give the library a call at 939-6232 and "Read on the Wild Side"

Check out our
Website of the Week!
This week we are celebrating the re-opening of several historic sites in Southern Illinois. The website to visit is Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. Has it been a while since you have visited Fort Kaskaskia? How about Cahokia Mounds? Or the beautiful Pierre Menard Home? Log on and get all the info on hours of operation, fees, and general info. A great idea for a quick, inexpensive vacation!
