FamilyTreeMaker CDs Sorry, the CDs are not available for interlibrary loan. MICHAEL H. SEYLER GENEALOGICAL MEMORIAL FUND A memorial fund has been established at the Morrison-Talbott Library in the genealogy department. This endowment was funded in memory of Michael H. Seyler by Marlene Trost Seyler, family and friends. Michael H. Seyler passed away November 1, 1995 in Sun City, Arizona, burial in Waterloo City Cemetery. Having been born and raised in the Waterloo area, both Michael and Marlene felt a necessary commitment to provide future generations with the opportunity to further their own genealogical backgrounds. The Michael H. Seyler Memorial Fund has provided the Library the opportunity to enhance the genealogy collection both with research materials and equipment. A computer dedicated to genealogy use for viewing archival CDs and internet access, color flatbed scanner, color printer, microfilm/microfiche reader-printer, microfilmed court house records, subscriptions to genealogy serials, FamilyTreeMaker CDs, and other items were all purchased through the Fund. If you are interested in contributing to the Michael H. Seyler Memorial Fund, you may do so by writing to Morrison-Talbott Library; 215 Park Street; Waterloo, Illinois 62298, Attention: Elaine Steingrubey, Director. All contributions are tax deductible. Survey Monroe County @ the Morrison-Talbott Library The family of Robert Gardner donated eleven boxes of early Monroe County Survey records to the Morrison-Talbott Library. These records represent the original surveys done by three generations of Monroe County Surveyors. Some of the records date back to the 1800's when the City of Waterloo was platted. The surveys also cover other areas of Monroe County, extending into Randolph and St. Clair Counties. The family requested that the Library make the information contained in the records available, while preserving the original documents. Through an LSTA grant*, the Morrison-Talbott Library staff and volunteers, members of the Monroe County Genealogical Society and the Monroe County Historical Society have begun the process of making these records available to the public. Completion of the humidificaton, indexing and filming of these records during the grant time frame was not possible. This grant has provided a strong foundation for the continuation and completion of the project. Until the project has been completed and the records are microfilmed and indexed, the information contained in the records is not available to the public. The anticipated completion is scheduled for early 2003. *Funding for this grant was provided by the Illinois State Library, a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using federal LSTA funding. |
